As the process of urbanization in our country intensifies, the urban population is gradually increasing, resulting in varying degrees of land use tension and traffic congestion, making urban development encounter great pressure. The development of underground space is particularly important, and underground places with various functions appear constantly. However, the space use feeling and people’s psychological activities of underground buildings are quite different from those above the ground. Therefore, based on the people-oriented principle, the research on the spirit of underground space becomes the focus of our attention. This paper takes Nanjing Museum as the research object, extracts and integrates the elements of place spirit, conducts a questionnaire survey on its place spirit, collects data, refines the dimension of place spirit by using exploratory factors, analyzes the perceived characteristics of the importance and satisfaction of place spirit, finally the paper uses IPA method to evaluate it quantitatively, and gives the corresponding design countermeasures and suggestions.

Underground space development in the old city is conducive to improving urban space quality and solving spatial contradictions. Underground space is an important means to improve the old city’s living environment and re-excite the city’s vitality. The ground and underground information integration system is the digital foundation and technical guarantee for the integration and intensive construction of the aboveground and underground space in the old city. Based on the data collection and research content of urban underground space information systems within the country and abroad, this paper extracts the limiting and influencing factors of space information systems, introduces big data integrated processing technology, and combines machine algorithms and related evaluation methods. The study proposed developing the aboveground and underground integrated development decision-making and data support platform suitable for the development and management of the underground space of the old city, aiming to provide data support and decision-making reference for the intensive development and digital management of the old city space, in addition, to promote the renewal of the old city and the urban style protection development.

Comprehensive and scientifically reasonable planning and design of underground space is the premise for its development and utilization, reviewing the research context of underground space planning and design, predicting its development trend, providing reference for sustainable utilization and high-quality development of underground space. Through the visual analysis method of bibliometrics, the literature of underground space planning and design journals from CNKI and Web of Science database was analyzed, the number of papers, subject categories, main research forces and keywords were processed, then the following conclusions were drawn: the development trend of discipline types is diversified and interdisciplinary. The main research countries / regions are China, and the research institutions are Shanghai Municipal Engineering Research Institute (Group) Co., LTD and Tongji University, etc. Keyword emergence analysis indicates that future research trends will focus on: The improvement of underground space comfort and quality; Green and safe underground space design under the Sustainable Development Goals; Comprehensive planning and layout of three-dimensional and intensive underground space; Digital technology assisted underground space planning and design.
