The aim of this study was to compare the influences on peri-implant soft tissues and bone tissues by 3I and Osstem implants.
42 patients underwent implant restoration(23 3I implants and 26 Osstem implants). 49 natural normal teeth were selected as comparison. The bone loss, sulcus bleeding index (SBI), plaque index (PLI), probing depth (PD), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) level in peri-implant crevicular fluid (PICF) were measured at the time of 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after the abutment connection. Analysis of data was performed by software SPSS 17.0.
The bone loss of Osstem implant system was more than those of 3I implant system (P<0.05). SBI and PLI of Osstem implant system were higher than that of 3I implant system at the time of 6, 9 and 12 months after abutment connection (P<0.05). There was no significant difference of AST level in PICF between natural teeth and the 3I implant system, while AST level in PICF of Osstem system group was higher than that of natural teeth (P<0.05). PD of 3I implant system was lower than that of Osstem implant (P<0.05).
The influence level of 3I implant system on the surrounding peri-implant bone and periodontal tissues is less than that of Osstem implant system, but both implants showed a good clinical effect in the short period.
