Research achievements in cutting-edge scientific fields such as high-energy physics are often difficult for the general public to understand due to their abstract concepts and complex theories, highlighting the prominent issue of the “last mile” in science communication. Taking the production of a popular science video on “photon-axion-like particle(ALP) propagation modes” as an example, this paper explores the transformation path and practical strategies from scientific research papers to popular science videos. Based on the core theory of the paper “Distinct photon-ALP propagation modes” and combining PPT animation technology, the transformation process is analyzed from four dimensions: theoretical refinement, content structuring, visual symbol design, and narrative logic construction. It argues the role of popular science videos in lowering the threshold of scientific understanding and enhancing the public's interest in science. The key issues in the transformation process, such as the balance between scientific accuracy and accessibility and the matching of technical tools, are summarized, providing practical references for the popularization of scientific research achievements.

In the context of the increasing importance of science education in primary and secondary schools, innovating the training methods for science teachers has become a significant challenge for higher normal education. The corresponding author of this paper has been actively engaged in the theoretical and practical research on the interdisciplinary training of pre-service science teachers, including undergraduate students majoring in science and engineering teacher education. Based on Lisa Randall's popular science bestseller “Dark Matter and Dinosaurs”, this paper adapted it into a popular science cartoon lasting over ten minutes, and briefly described the design and production process of the animation with the same name. Using this undergraduate graduation project as a case study, the paper proposes a new method to improve the interdisciplinary abilities of pre-service science teachers through the practice of designing and producing science education animations. It is hoped that this will have a positive impact on the interdisciplinary training of science teachers in China and the development of the science education cause.
