In the field of materials physics, precisely fabricating semiconductor micro-nano functional materials with controllable composition and achieving coordinated regulation of multiple components is an effective strategy to enhance the photocatalytic performances of semiconductors. The traditional construction methods mainly rely on wet chemical methods, which achieve the regulation and configuration of semiconductor components through chemical reactions. However, this process often involves chemical groups and excess impurities, which become obstacles to prevent the rapid transfer of semiconductor photogenerated carriers. Recently, academic researchers from Naval University of Engineering, South China Normal University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology collaborated to propose a new strategy for fabricating semiconductor micro-nano functional materials by “laser embedding in liquid”. This strategy utilizes the powerful laser photothermal effect to selectively heat the precursor materials dispersed in the liquid medium, allowing different components of the precursor materials to be precisely anchored on the surface and body of the semiconductor materials. By precisely fabricating semiconductor micro-nano functional materials through this physical method, the participation of chemical reactions is avoided, significantly improving the photocatalytic degradation performance of semiconductors. The related achievements were published online in international high-level journals, such as Small, Optics and Laser Technology.
