Rainfall is a crucial factor that causes geological disasters. This paper takes Jinpu New District of Dalian City as an example and uses the information-deterministic coefficient coupling model to conduct an evaluation of geological hazard susceptibility, based on regional geological data and socio-economic statistical information. Ten evaluation indexes are selected from the perspective of topography, geomorphology and geological conditions. Meanwhile, according to the geological disaster risk evaluation results and vulnerability evaluation results under heavy rain, heavy rainstorm, violent rainstorm and extreme rainfall, the geological disaster risk evaluation results are classified. The results show that the geological hazard risk in the study area can be divided into four grades: low, medium, high and extremely high. With the increase of rainfall intensity, the areas of high and extremely high risk areas in the southwest, southeast and midland increase significantly. In all rainfall intensity levels, the low and medium risk areas are mostly located in the northern, eastern and western parts of the less populated, low economic density streets. It is suggested to formulate regional geological disaster prevention strategies according to the dynamic change of rainfall.
