Flipped classroom is a hot topic in modern higher education. In this paper, we take “Advanced Laser Physics” course, a required course for graduate students majoring in optics at Yunnan University, as an example to explore how to effectively integrate the flipped classroom model into the teaching of graduate required courses. The results show that the use of flipped classroom mode in difficult courses with few class hours and high difficulty can effectively improve students' learning outcomes and participation, promote the integration of students' practice with theory, cultivate students' autonomous learning and critical thinking skills, and enhance students' learning efficiency and research capabilities. We hope the results of this paper can provide some reference for the application of the flipped classroom model in the teaching of graduate required courses with few class hours and high difficulty.
