Wireless power transfer to autonomous underwater vehicles enables their continuous long-term operation and has good application prospects. Herein, we discuss the key problems of this technology, focusing on the modeling of eddy current loss in seawater, design of misalignment-tolerant systems, and simultaneous wireless power and data transfer. Moreover, related development trends are suggested based on the abovementioned three aspects.
