Coherent light computing is a specialized computational method based on quantum optics and non von Neumann frameworks, which is expected to break through the bottleneck of computational performance and power consumption in the post Moore era. The core idea of coherent light calculation is based on the principle of minimum gain. By gradually increasing the intensity of the pump light in the degenerate optical parametric oscillator, the lowest energy ground state mode in the oscillator is excited, thus completing a process similar to physical annealing. This annealing process can be used to solve combinatorial optimization problems and has advantages such as fast computation speed, high solution quality, and low power consumption. Coherent optical computers, also known as Coherent Ising Machines, can be used for fast and high-quality solutions to problems such as traffic flow allocation, industrial resource scheduling, and financial investment portfolios. They are an important research direction in quantum computing hardware. This paper, as the second part of the “Advanced Computational Power Technology” topic, introduces the basic principles, historical development and experimental systems of coherent optical computing and coherent Ising machines. This paper not only serves as a general introduction to the future field of computing technology, but the PPT given in the appendix also serves as a useful supplement to the “Quantum Physics” chapter in university physics and other courses.

In-memory computing is a potential development direction to break through the performance and power consumption bottlenecks in the post-Moore era. Emerging two-dimensional (2D) ferroelectric semiconductors have become a research hotspot in just a few years because they combined nonvolatile ferroelectric polarization and semiconducting properties, which makes them suitable for in-memory computing. This paper, as the first part of “Advanced Computing Technologies”, introduces the historical background of in-memory computing, the physical picture of 2D ferroelectric semiconductors, and the mechanism of typical devices. This paper serves as a general introduction to the field of future computing technology. The PPT given in the appendix of this paper also serves as a useful supplement to the “Electromagnetism” chapter in university physics and other courses.

Multilayer composite microcavity can achieve the unique phenomenon that can not be observed in single-material resonators. In this paper, the optothermal oscillation effect of silica microspheres coated with silk fibroin and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is analyzed theoretically, and the unique oscillation waveform is observed. The waveform is composed of two oscillation with different periods, in which the slow oscillation contains several fast oscillation, and the fast oscillation only occurs in the temperature rise interval of silk fibroin and silica. We explain this phenomenon by constructing thermodynamics equations based on coupled-mode theory. The simultaneous phenomenon of oscillation may have potential applications value in sensitive detection.
