Abstract

On Sept. 20, 2025, CCPR held a “Journal on Campus” initiative at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, engaging in in-depth discussions on “Building Liveable Cities Through Urban Regeneration in the Era of AI.” This article presents perspectives and insights shared by experts during Panel Session 2: Urban Intelligence and Urban Regeneration. This panel session discusses how emerging technologies, particularly AI, are reshaping the theory and practice of urban regeneration. Bringing together diverse viewpoints, this collection addresses critical issues in modern city development, exploring evolving trends, strategic pathways, and practical experiences in regenerating urban spaces. It showcases how intelligent tools can support data-driven, participatory, and adaptive planning, and highlights the importance of community engagement and trust-building through transparent and collaborative practices. By bridging technological innovation with people-centered design, the collection provides valuable insights into building smarter, more resilient, and inclusive urban environments that reflect both digital advancement and societal values.
