Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) represent a major global public health challenge, characterized by high incidence, disability, and mortality rates. The pathological mechanisms underlying CVDs are highly complex, involving multiple interrelated processes including vascular endothelial dysfunction, atherosclerosis, cardiac remodeling, chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, and metabolic disorders. As lifestyle patterns continue to evolve and population aging accelerates worldwide, the incidence and prevalence of CVDs are steadily increasing, imposing a substantial burden on healthcare systems across the globe. In this context, the active exploration of safe and effective preventive and therapeutic strategies—particularly the discovery of bioactive substances with cardiovascular protective potential from traditional Food and Medicine Homology resources—has emerged as a critical and promising direction in modern medical research.
This Special Issue aims to provide an in-depth investigation into the mechanistic roles of Food and Medicine Homology products in maintaining cardiovascular health and preventing or treating cardiovascular diseases, to elucidate their material bases, and to promote the scientific application and industrial development of Food and Medicine Homology resources in the cardiovascular health field, thereby supporting the implementation of the Healthy China national strategy. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- The application value and underlying mechanisms of Food and Medicine Homology products in cardiovascular protection.
- The application and mechanistic basis of Food and Medicine Homology products in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension, atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, heart failure, and arrhythmia.
- Analysis of the material basis (active constituents) of Food and Medicine Homology products in improving cardiovascular function and preventing or treating cardiovascular diseases.
- Clinical studies on the application of Food and Medicine Homology products in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
- Development strategies and industrial applications of Food and Medicine Homology products in the cardiovascular health domain.
