We invite submissions for a special issue at Energy and Carbon Management (https://www.sciopen.com/journal/3006-9203) on Finance for Climate Adaptation: Concepts, Measurements, Instruments, and Diversified Channels. As climate change accelerates, the need for effective adaptation strategies has become increasingly critical. This call for papers seeks to explore the role of finance in enabling climate adaptation through innovative instruments, measurement frameworks, and diversified financing channels.
Scope and Topics
We welcome theoretical, empirical, and policy-oriented contributions that address, but are not limited to, the following themes:

Minpeng Chen is a Full Professor at the School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development (SARD), Renmin University of China. With extensive international research experience, she has conducted work on agricultural adaptation and mitigation strategies, as well as agricultural sustainability, at prestigious institutions including Tsinghua University, Yale University, University of Yamanashi, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Professor Chen is serving as Co-Chair of the Policy and Finance Committee, World Adaptation Science Programme (WASP) since 2018 and currently co-leading the Adaptation Finance Working Group. She acted as a negotiator on adaptation and loss & damage for the Chinese Delegation to the UNFCCC (2014-2016) and as Co-Chair of the UNFCCC Adaptation Committee (2015-2016). Professor Chen earned her Bachelor's degree in Environmental Economics from Renmin University of China and holds a Ph.D. in Environmental System Analysis from Tsinghua University.
Denyse S. Dookie, Research Fellow, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)

Dr. Denyse S Dookie is a Research Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute/LSE with research interests broadly centred on better understanding and using climate information for adaptation, disaster risk reduction and resilience. She has a deep and vested interest in evidence-led research and practical action relating to Caribbean sustainable development efforts, owing to her roots in Trinidad and Tobago. She draws insight from stints at the IDB, UNDP, UNDESA, the Permanent Mission of Trinidad and Tobago to the UN in New York, and working with Caribbean development practitioners, as well as multi-disciplinary studies in economics, climate science, development studies and international relations. Her current research focuses on the development of climate storylines through the UK MACC ATTENUATE project, a focus on understanding adaptive capacity and education dimensions within the Horizon Europe healthRIskADAPT project, the use and uptake of climate information in Tanzania, Burkina Faso and Malawi through the CLARE BASIN project, and gender dimensions of climate information use in South Africa, in addition to research relating to climate information, climate finance, and productive capacity in the Caribbean.
Soenke Kreft, Deputy Head, United Nations University

Soenke Kreft serves as the Executive Director of the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative and the Deputy Head of the Risk and Adaptation Department at the United Nations University – Institute for Environment and Human Security. An expert in climate policy, finance, and global governance, he is also actively involved in significant bodies, including the Technical Expert Group on Comprehensive Risk Management (TEG CRM) under the UNFCCC and the Adaptation Finance Working Group of the World Adaptation Science Programme (WASP). He has profoundly influenced global policy regimes and norms, advocating for insurance approaches in climate response and pioneering innovative risk solutions for vulnerable populations, drawing on extensive field experience in over 20 countries.
Sivapuram Venkata Rama Krishna Prabhakar, Principal Policy Researcher, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES)

Prabhakar works with the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) in Japan, as a Principal Policy Researcher. He works on transboundary impacts of climate change, vulnerability assessments, risk insurance, loss and damage, mainstreaming CCA and DRR into development plans and policies, adaptation metrics, adaptive policies and institutions, and capacity needs assessments. He led several research and development projects on climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk reduction (DRR) in South and South-East Asian countries. Prabhakar obtained a PhD in Field Crop Management from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, India, and possesses more than 20 years of experience in participatory research and development with international and national research and 13 development organizations, including IGES, Kyoto University, UNDP, NIDM, CIMMYT-RWC, IARI, and ICRISAT. A strong publication record with several peer-reviewed papers supports his work experience. He has been a Contributing Author to the Fifth and Sixth Assessment Reports of the IPCC Working Group II, Coordinating Lead Author for the UNEP Geo-6 report, Lead Author for the UNEP Adaptation Gap Report, ASEAN State of Climate Report (SOE6), and Lead Author for the HIMAP Report.

Papers submitted for this special issue are subject to a rigorous peer review procedure before being rapidly and widely disseminated. Upon its acceptance, the paper will go into production immediately, and then be published online in a regular issue.
