Tsinghua launches inaugural issue of Energy Materials and Devices

Tsinghua University has launched the first issue of Energy Materials and Devices, a quarterly publication by Tsinghua University Press. The journal aims to be an international, open-access, and interdisciplinary platform focusing on energy materials and devices. It covers innovations across basic research, technological innovation, achievement transformation and industrialization in this cutting-edge field, publishing original, leading, and forward-looking research on material design, synthesis, integration, assembly, and characterization of energy storage and conversion  devices.

Professor Kang Feiyu from Tsinghua University started the journal in September 2023 and currently serves its the editor-in-chief. The inaugural issue, published in the same month, featured 10 articles covering lithium-ion batteries, potassium-ion batteries, zinc-ion batteries, solid-state batteries, supercapacitors, electrocatalysis, and electrochemical drives. The issue comprised one editorial, four reviews, and five research articles. The authors come from countries such as China, Germany, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates. All papers are open-access and available for free download at https://www.sciopen.com/journal/3005-3315.

The journal concentrates on leading, innovative, and practical advancements in modern energy materials and devices. Besides publishing original research papers, it also features research bulletins, reviews, news, expert opinions, research highlights, and commentary covering various aspects of the related fields. The goal of Energy Materials and Devices is to provide an open, fair, and transparent platform for academic exchange, bridging the gap between high-level innovative achievements and advanced industrial technologies. In this way, the journal will encourage the industrialization of scientific research results, intensify cooperation between research and industry, and make valuable contributions to the national energy security strategy.

Thanks to the academic editorial team led by Professor Kang Feiyu, the journal already boasts an editorial board of 113 members, including 11 internationally renowned, highly influential research fellows from China and overseas and 83 young researchers in related fields worldwide.
