Call for Papers: Special Issue on Advances in Fuzzy Computational Intelligence for Biomedical Applications

Fuzzy computational intelligence (FCI) is a broad subfield of artificial intelligence that combines fuzzy logic, neural networks, and genetic algorithms to help enable machines to solve complex problems. FCI has been used in a variety of biomedical applications, including medical diagnosis, patient monitoring, drug discovery, and biometric security. This paper provides an overview of the current state of FCI in the biomedical domain and highlights recent advances in FCI-based solutions. It surveys a variety of FCI-based approaches, such as fuzzy rule-based systems, fuzzy neural networks, fuzzy decision trees, and hybrid fuzzy systems. It also explores the potential applications of FCI in the biomedical domain, such as disease diagnosis, medical image analysis, and patient monitoring. Finally, the paper discusses the challenges and opportunities for future FCI-based solutions in the biomedical domain. It has the potential to provide new insights into complex biomedical problems and to identify the best solutions to them.

The integration of fuzzy systems with other computational intelligence techniques such as neural networks, evolutionary algorithms, and expert systems is challenging due to the different nature of the techniques. Biomedical data is often highly uncertain due to the complexity of the biological systems. Fuzzy systems provide an effective way of representing and manipulating uncertain information, but accurately representing the uncertainty of the biomedical data is challenging due to the lack of precise measurements and the complexity of the biological processes.

This special issue is devoted to the application of Fuzzy Computational Intelligence (FCI) to biomedical applications. The aim of this special issue is to provide a forum for discussing recent advances in the development, application, and evaluation of FCI algorithms for biomedical applications. We invite researchers to submit their original work that provides insight into the development and application of FCI for biomedical applications. We welcome papers that focus on both theoretical and practical aspects of FCI for biomedical applications. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Fuzzy logic based decision support systems for medical diagnosis
• Fuzzy-based medical image processing and analysis
• Fuzzy-based medical data mining
• Fuzzy-based medical data visualization
• Fuzzy-based medical informatics
• Fuzzy-based medical robotics
• Fuzzy-based medical expert systems
• Fuzzy-based medical control systems
• Applications of fuzzy logic to bioinformatics and biotechnology
