CFP – Special Issue on IoT, Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics for Smart Environments

The fast development of telecommunication enabling systems and the explicit increase of the Internet of Things (IoT) have made the physical environment able to interact with the actuators, the sensors and the other computing components in an invisible way, while providing a constant connectivity throughout the network. The permanently linked physical world with informatics assets constitutes a smart environment. The goal behind a smart environment is to provide the inhabitants with sustained and improved functionality when performing various activities, including the ability to successfully navigate through unknown territory and to continuously monitor some weather parameters. Scientists have undertaken a variety of efforts on how to utilize the IoT framework to facilitate our daily existence and to investigate the impact of IoT-enabled smart environments on the daily life of humans.

IoT technology is intended to perform the datacomposition over all things and intelligence over everything. What it does is applying intelligence around the Edge and empowering devices to be able to intelligently understand data, survey the environment around them, and then make decisions regarding the best action to take. Through the powerful use of Machine Learning, Deep Learning and AI, IoT devices are no longer simply communicators that forward information to the central controller, rather they have become independent intelligent machines that can conduct autonomic analyses and operate autonomously.

The focus of this special issue is to publish new research outcomes that are furthering the level of current research or otherwise contributing to the overall comprehension of Internet of Things (IoT) related challenges like data analytics, big data analytics, smart solutions, connected objects, smart device design and engineering, machine learning, environmental monitoring and control, authentication and authorization, securing private data, software and systems solutions, and information technology. The topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Machine Learning, IoT and AI for Smart Systems
  • Machine Learning, IoT and AI for environment and health
  • Machine Learning, IoT and AI for air, water and climate sustainability
  • Machine Learning, IoT and AI for smart energy, renewable energy and green fuel
  • Machine Learning, IoT and AI for smart cities
  • Smart Communication and Networking Technologies
  • Big Data and Smart Systems
  • Biometrics and Smart Systems
  • Cloud/Edge/Fog Computing Technologies for Smart Systems
  • IoT and Industrial IoT Technologies for Smart System
