CFP: Special Issue on EEG in Clinical Diagnosis and Intervention

Brain Science Advances is a peer-reviewed, international, and interdisciplinary open access journal with ISSN 2096-5958 and CN 10-1534/R, which is published quarterly by Tsinghua University Press and SAGE. Brain Science Advances publishes high-quality original research articles and review articles, focusing on basic neuroscience, clinical neuroscience, and neural engineering.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) records the electrical signals of the brain, and it is extensively used to dynamically evaluate the function of the brain. Due to its exquisite temporal sensitivity and implementation simplicity, EEG has found a series of clinical applications for disease diagnosis, such as diagnosis of epilepsy and sleep disorders. On the other hand, with the rapid developments of neuromodulation and brain–computer interface techniques, EEG has also been applied in disease treatment, intervention, and rehabilitation, mainly as a simple and real-time manner to monitor the brain states and to provide feedback signals to patients, doctors, or intelligent medical devices. Furthermore, the advances of machine learning algorithms and intelligent sensors have enabled an increasing number of EEG applications in clinical diagnosis and intervention. However, there is still a huge gap between clinical research and clinical practice. For this reason, the special issue aims to provide a collection of papers discussing the state-of-the-art of EEG applications in clinical diagnosis and intervention and pinpointing existing problems and emerging challenges.

Technical topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

  • Novel Methods and Systems for EEG in Clinical Uses
  • Novel Clinical Applications of EEG
  • Systematic Review of Clinical EEG Applications
  • Opinion on the Advances and Challenges of Clinical EEG Applications
  • Clinical Trial with the Use of EEG Techniques
