Call for Papers: Special Issue on Orbit Determination

Astrodynamics is a peer-reviewed international journal that is quarterly co-published by Tsinghua University Press and Springer, on behalf of the School of Aerospace Engineering of Tsinghua University. The high-quality peer-reviewed articles of original research, comprehensive review, mission accomplishments, and technical comments in all fields of astrodynamics will be given priorities for publication. In addition, related research in astronomy and astrophysics that takes advantages of the analytical and computational methods of astrodynamics is also welcome. Astrodynamics has been indexed in ESCI, Scopus, and Ei Compendex.

Orbit determination originates from the requirement of determining trajectories of natural bodies in the solar system. It is a problem of long history in celestial mechanics and astrodynamics. In the space era, new challenges are initiated by the vast number of space objects and many new types of observations. Various applications have brought new life to this old problem, from space situational awareness, to planetary defense, to orbit determination of cislunar objects or deep space probes, to gravity field recovery of natural bodies, to thermal effect measurement of natural or artificial bodies, to orbit determination of artificial objects subject to continuous thrust…. All these new challenges urge us to organize this special issue. Topics for this special issue include methods and possible applications of initial and statistical orbit determination related with, but are not limited to:

  • space debris
  • cislunar objects
  • interplanetary probes
  • natural solar system bodies
  • objects around natural bodies
  • space objects subject to unnatural forces

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

For authors who want to submit manuscripts to our Special Issue, please first refer to the “Instructions on Special Issues of Astrodynamics” on the journal homepage to know the handling procedures and quality standards that are specially for Special Issues. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their completed manuscript to https://mc03.manuscriptcentral.com/astrod with “Special Issue: Orbit Determination” marked in the cover letter section.
