Journal of Beijing University of Chemical Technology (Natural Science) is a bimonthly academic journal focusing on natural sciences. Supervised by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by Beijing University of Chemical Technology, it is distributed publicly at home and abroad. Its columns include Invited Reviews, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Biological Technology and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Informatics, as well as Management and Mathematics. Innovative academic papers on natural sciences and engineering technologies relevant to the above research fields from scholars worldwide are welcome.

Manuscript Requirements and Submission Guidelines

1. All manuscripts must feature clear arguments, concise language, reliable experimental data and clear figures and tables. A suitable manuscript length ranges from 3 to 6 pages. A complete manuscript shall include the following components in sequence: title (no more than 20 Chinese characters), author names, institutional affiliations, Chinese abstract (approximately 400 Chinese characters), 3–8 keywords, Chinese Library Classification number, main text and references, followed by English title, authors’ names in Pinyin, English institutional affiliations, English abstract(more detailed content than the Chinese version is encouraged) and English keywords. In addition, the footnote on the first page shall state the first author’s gender, date of birth, professional title, academic degree and e-mail address, as well as the names and grant numbers of supporting research projects.

2. Section headings in the main text shall be concise and clear. Hierarchical headings are continuously numbered with Arabic numerals separated by dots, without a full stop after the last digit, e.g., 1, 1.1, 1.1.1. All headings are left-aligned with no indentation, followed by one character space before the heading text.

3. The English abstract shall be written in the third person, consistent with the Chinese abstract in content, and more detailed information than the Chinese version is encouraged.

4. Manuscripts shall use standard Chinese characters and accurate punctuation. Symbols for physical quantities and measurement units must comply with national standards. The full Chinese name shall be given when a physical quantity or foreign abbreviation first appears. All Latin letters in the text shall be clearly distinguished in uppercase/lowercase, roman/italic, superscript/subscript forms, with consistent formatting throughout the manuscript.

5. All figures and tables shall be assigned serial numbers with both Chinese and English captions. Illustrations must be carefully selected, with a maximum of 8 figures in principle. For line drawings, the thickness ratio of main lines to auxiliary lines is 2:1. All text and symbols inside figures shall match those used in the main text. Simple figures shall be about 5 cm wide, and complex block diagrams shall not exceed 16 cm in width. Photographs must be clear black-and-white images with distinct layers; the magnification ratio shall be marked, or a scale bar shall be embedded in the image.

6. Only core primary literature personally read by the authors shall be included in references, with a minimum of 8 entries. Fifty percent of the cited references shall be published within the latest five years. For publications with more than three authors, list the first three authors followed by “et al.”. For foreign authors, surnames are placed before abbreviated given names without periods. Chinese references must be provided with both Chinese and English versions. References are numbered sequentially according to their first citation order in the text, formatted in accordance with <GB/T 7714—2015 Information and documentation—Rules for bibliographic references and citations to information resources>. 7. Authors take full legal responsibility for the content of their manuscripts and are required to abide by academic ethics. All external data and literature cited in the text must be properly referenced. Multiple submission of one manuscript to different journals is prohibited. Upon submission, authors grant the journal permission to make minor linguistic revisions to the manuscript, and authorize reproduction and excerpting of the work in printed, CD-ROM and online forms by other newspapers, periodicals and databases. Copyright royalties and journal remuneration will be paid to authors as a one-time lump sum.

8. All manuscripts must be submitted online via the official website journal.buct.edu.cn. After logging in, click the “Online Submission for Authors” entry. Register valid information of all authors following on-screen prompts before uploading manuscripts. Authors may check the real-time review progress after submission. Student authors must obtain supervisor approval and revise the manuscript under supervisor guidance. Complete, authentic and valid supervisor contact information must be provided for editorial communication; manuscripts without supervisor information will be rejected at the preliminary review stage. The general peer review cycle lasts 1 to 2 months. The peer review fee is 100 RMB (excluding supplementary review fees). Publishing charges differ by author affiliation: 240 RMB per page for BUCT-affiliated authors and 300 RMB per page for external authors.
