Professor Tejraj M. Aminabhavi, presently the Director of Research, Center for Energy and Environment, School of Advanced Sciences, KLE Technological University, Hubballi, India.  He worked on thermodynamics of polymer solutions to complete his PhD from the University of Texas, Austin, USA in 1979. Later, he was post-doctoral researcher at Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York, USA during 1980-1981 working on micellar solutions using light scattering techniques as well as quasi-elastic light scattering to understand micellar structures and dynamics of the processes involved in their aggregations. In 1981-1982, he moved back to Texas State University to pursue research on thermally stable polymers used in aerospace applications. During this time, he developed interest in polymers for membrane applications, particularly elastomeric membranes used as outer coverings in Navy submarines.

Aminabhavi returned to Karnatak University, Dharwad, India in 1983 where he continued to develop separation techniques viz., electrodialysis, micro and nanofiltrations applied to groundwater treatment and published three US patents in these areas. During this time, he developed programs on new types of biopolymers used in drug delivery and trained several pharmacy students for PhD. Aminabhavi established the Center of Excellence in Polymer Science at Karnatak University and was responsible for starting a new research and teaching program in polymer science. Recently Karnataka University coveted him with the Diamond Jubilee Professorship for life. Aminabhavi is also the Honorary Visiting Professor at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. He has research collaborations across many universities in the world including Europe (Belgium, Portugal and France), America, Australia, Korea and China.   From 2007 till 2013, Aminabhavi was a scientific advisor to Reliance Life Sciences at Mumbai, where he applied biopolymers for drug release applications.

Presently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Environmental Chemistry and Safety, and the co-executive editor of Chemical Engineering Journal (Elsevier, IF=13.3); Founding Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of Materials Science for Energy Technologies and Sensors International (both from KeAi Publishers, a joint venture with Elsevier). Aminabhavi is an adjunct professor at Korea University, Seoul, South Korea as well as UPES, Dehradun and Chandigarh University, Punjab. Presently, he is pursuing research activities in energy and environmental areas.  Aminabhavi has an H index of 125 and is the second highly cited researcher of India in Chemistry. He has edited several books and published more than 1000 scientific research articles.
