To accurately identify the aphid species infesting chrysanthemum in China and to explore the application technology of control insecticides,
aphid species from chrysanthemums were identified through DNA sequencing and morphological characterization. Field efficacy of various insecticides against chrysanthemum aphids was evaluated via spraying experiments, and the safety of Cordyceps javanica JS001 on chrysanthemums was assessed using the growth rate method.
The results indicated that the predominant species of chrysanthemums was Macrosiphoniella sanborni, followed by Aphis gossypii. Field tests demonstrated that when applied at the early stages of aphid occurence, C. javanica JS001 achieved control efficiency of 70% to 96%, with an efficiency exceeding 89% in Jiangsu Province. Safety evaluations revealed that C. javanica JS001 was safe for chrysanthemums and promoted the growth of new shoots in chrysanthemum seedlings at doses of 450 mL/hm2, 900 mL/hm2 and 1 800 mL/hm2.
C. javanica JS001 is recommended as a preferred agent for controlling chrysanthemum aphids.
