Abstract

There are still some paradoxical problems in the teaching of courses such as electromagnetism, classical electrodynamics, and electromagnetic fields and waves. These paradoxical problems can be effectively avoided by introducing concepts and theories such as scalar magnetic fields and longitudinal electromagnetic waves. However, such content has not yet been incorporated into relevant courses at universities in China. After briefly reviewing several conclusions of generalized electrodynamics and related experimental results, this paper proposes introducing the concepts and principles of scalar magnetic fields and longitudinal electromagnetic waves into relevant university courses, and analyzes the necessity, significance, and feasibility of doing so. Introducing these topics into relevant courses will not only be valuable for teaching but also strongly promote the development of fundamental electromagnetic science and related interdisciplinary fields.
