This paper aims to explore a reform of Atomic Physics teaching design based on the concept of outcome based education (OBE). The course is designed for sophomore students majoring in Microelectronics Science and Engineering. The teaching is tailored to the characteristics of the students' major, starting from the learning objectives and outcomes to design the teaching model in reverse. The course expands teaching content, adds scientific research topics, designs diverse assessment methods focusing on ongoing process evaluations, and incorporates various types of student-centered learning activities. Under the guidance of OBE concept, the instructional design focuses on students' learning outcomes and emphasizes the comprehensive development of knowledge, skills, and qualities. Through teaching practice, students have clear learning objectives, classroom participation is significantly increased, and learning outcomes are noticeably enhanced. This teaching model helps to enhance the quality of teaching and the comprehensive quality of students.
