Abstract

In the course of electromagnetism, the abstractness of various vector fields and the complexity of mathematical descriptions make the correct understanding of the spatial distribution of electromagnetic fields a difficult content in the teaching process. Taking the advantages of the Matlab in scientific calculation and visualization, the modelling, numerical calculation, visually display and analysis of spatial distributions of electrostatic field, potential and magnetic field are demonstrated in this paper, it displays the important role played by the simulation and visualization in the teaching of electromagnetism. Based on the teaching practice of the course in recent years, it has been found that by guiding students to apply scientific computing and simulation to the solution and analysis of problems related to electromagnetism, it plays an important role in improving students' mathematical modeling and numerical calculation abilities. It promotes the interdisciplinary learning of computer science, mathematics, and electromagnetism, enhancing the depth and breadth of the course. Compared to the conventional way in teaching electromagnetism, adding computer programming, simulation, and analysis of electromagnetic problems can significantly improve students' sense of course acquisition.
