Abstract

STEM education has achieved remarkable results in cultivating interdisciplinary innovative talents. Physics has the advantage of discipline integration in STEM education. Cultivating the interdisciplinary teaching competence of physics teacher-training students is consistent with the needs of the Strategy of Reinvigorating China through Human Resource Development in the new era and basic education practice. Based on the capability index system for STEM teachers, this paper analyzes the training objectives and curriculum systems in the talent cultivation plans of physics majors at six ministerial normal universities. It is found that all six universities focus on cultivating the professional foundation and basic educational teaching abilities of physics teacher students, but the interdisciplinary integration of courses is insufficient, and there is a lack of practical courses, which is not conducive to cultivating the interdisciplinary teaching abilities of teacher students. On this basis, corresponding suggestions are proposed for the cultivation of teacher students, in the hope of providing references for constructing higher normal professional training programs that adapt to the interdisciplinary practice needs of basic education.
