To address the difficulty in recovering energy storage investment costs at renewable power plants (RPP), a collaborative optimal dispatch strategy for multiple wind-photovoltaic (PV)-storage systems is proposed, incorporating energy storage’s auxiliary dispatch plan tracking and frequency regulation. It includes the optimal control strategy for wind- or PV-storage systems and the bidding-dispatching-settlement strategy for energy storage alliances participating in frequency regulation markets. The optimal energy storage control strategy aims to maximize the net profit of wind- or PV-storage system through the rolling optimization on decision-making for the energy storage output assisting in tracking the dispatch plan and delivering frequency regulation services. The bidding-dispatching-settlement strategy for energy storage alliances determines the winning capacity of each energy storage station in each frequency regulation dispatch period based on the minimum number of participating stations, and then allocates the frequency regulation tasks and benefits among the stations. The proposed strategy is verified in three particularly designed scenarios, outperforming in dispatch tracking effects and improving energy storage utilization and station economic benefits.
