The Baise Hydropower Project (hereinafter referred to as “Project”) is the second tier of the comprehensive exploration plan for the Yujiang River of the Xijiang River system in the Pearl River Basin in China. The construction was completed in December 2006. First, the basic facts, layout, and essential structures of the Project were introduced in the article. Second, the primary technological advancements were discussed, including (1) changing layout to accommodate complex topographical and geological conditions, (2) site-specific engineering considerations for the development and construction of high roller compacted concrete (RCC) dams, (3) extensive utilization of diabase for artificial aggregates, and (4) enhanced procedures for expedited construction and quality assurance. Third, intelligent operation and administration used in the Project were described. Finally, the Project’s accomplishments were outlined, followed by project images.
