Web-based virtual reality(WebVR)holds great promise for a wide range of applications. This study presents a method for implementing virtual online exhibitions using the open-source AFrame framework, characterized by cross-platform compatibility, efficient information delivery, and rich interactive experiences. The following functional modules were developed: (1)a multi-functional virtual showcase was created to support online display, while an automatic voice-guided tour module was designed to enhance educational engagement.(2)Interactive experiences such as mural splicing and restoration, as well as virtual chime-bell performances, were developed to highlight the immersive and interactive advantages of WebVR. (3) Automated tools were implemented for graphics performance testing, alongside modules for optimizing display quality.(4) Multiple interaction and control methods were tailored to ensure compatibility with mainstream device platforms(. 5)Technical support modules were introduced to help content developers collect user feedback and perform audience behavior analysis. Overall, the proposed method offers both practicality and scalability, making it possible to deliver high-quality online public cultural services in an inclusive, efficient, and balance manner while keeping costs manageable.
