Identification of ideological and political education elements and teaching model in the course of world geography

Combined with the professional characteristic, for the construction of ideological and political curriculum, it is a hot topic to find out ideological and political elements deeply and organically integrating them into course teaching. On the basis of summarizing the advantages of world geography curriculum in China universities, this paper condenses five core elements of ideological and political education in world geography curriculum, namely, scientific spirit, global view, national strategy and security, multiple civilizations and life community, coordination of human-environment relationship and sustainable development. Furthermore, we proposed three pedagogical frameworks for ideological and political teaching of world geography curriculum, including theme-based learning, problem-based learning and project-based learning. By linking learning outcomes with the effectiveness of ideological and politics course, based on outcome-based education, we construct an evaluation system of the world geography curriculum. Overall, a novel ideological and political curriculum model was proposed in world geography curriculum, which may provide theoretical basis for perfecting the ideological and political teaching mode of professional courses in China universities and intellectual guarantee for the outstanding geographical talents in the future.
