Abstract

The earliest fossil records of Bittacidae can date back to the Triassic, with a higher diversity during the Jurassic, and lower diversity in the Cretaceous. This paper based on four well-preserved new specimens of Bittacidae from the mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber in Northern Myanmar (Hukawng Valley), revised the diagnosis of Burmobittacus Zhao, Bashkuev, Chen & Wang, 2017, supplemented the features of head, the basal part of the wing, and genitalia of Burmobittacus jarzembowskii Zhao, Bashkuev, Chen & Wang, 2017, indicated a significant difference in the intraspecific length ratio between radial sector(RS) and R2+3. This paper also compiled a fossil genus-level key for the Bittacidae and compared the wing differences among fossil groups of Bittacidae from Mesozoic.
