Spatial distribution characteristics and influencing factors of homestays in Northwest China

As a new force in the tourism industry, homestays are of great significance to the sustainable development of regional tourism and the human-land relationship. Taking 17795 homestays in Northwest China as the research object, the paper uses methods such as the nearest neighbor index, standard deviation ellipse, and kernel density analysis to analyze the spatial distribution patterns and structural characteristics of homestays and various types of homestays in Northwest China. The geographical detector is used to analyze the influencing factors. The results show that: ① Various types of homestays in Northwest China all show a clustered spatial distribution. ② Homestays in Northwest China all show a spatial distribution characteristic of "southeast-northwest" orientation. ③ Homestays in Northwest China all present a spatial distribution pattern of "large-scale dispersion and small-scale clustering", and an asymmetric pattern of "dense in the east and sparse in the west". ④ The spatial distribution of homestays in Northwest China is the result of the comprehensive effect of four major factors: Geographical environment, location conditions, economic foundation, and resource endowment. The influence degrees of different factors vary, and the spatial distribution of homestays and various types of homestays in Northwest China is affected by the interaction of multiple factors. The interaction results of any two factors all show non-linear enhancement and two-factor enhancement states.
