The impact of the comprehensive land rehabilitation on rural development: A case study of Tongxiang City in Zhejiang Province

As an essential policy tool to adjust the relationship between urban and rural people and land, the land comprehensive consolidation project has become an essential means to solve the problems of rural development. Taking the comprehensive land consolidation project in Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, as an example, the impact mechanism of changes in rural development before and after comprehensive land consolidation was examined empirically using questionnaire data and structural equation models. It is found that the influence paths of land consolidation on rural development from strong to weak are the employment status of villagers, village governance status, housing status of villagers, living feelings of villagers, and village development status. The employment status of villagers, the housing status, and the village governance also showed a strong mutual promoting effect. The villagers' living feelings and the village development status acted indirectly on the village development, with the intermediary effect being 0.16 and 0.26, respectively. The contribution degree of observed variables to the potential variables of land consolidation is significantly different.
