Aiming at the high-energy electromagnetic environment of low-frequency and wide pulse electric field, the time-domain coupling response and peak shielding efficiency of steel cage structure in protection engineering are studied, which can provide an effective reference for the normal operation of sensitive electronic equipment in the radiation area of ground nuclear explosion. Using several groups of wide pulse simulated excitation sources with different rising edges and combined with frequency domain Moment method and Fourier inverse transform, an effective and time-consuming wide pulse time-domain coupling calculation scheme is given, and the transient coupling responses of ten kinds of steel cages with different structures under different pulse radiation are calculated. The law of time-domain peak shielding effectiveness is analyzed, and the experimental measurement results are given for verification, which provides an effective and simple calculation scheme for the absent steel cages shielding experiment. At the same time, the time-domain peak shielding effectiveness of some steel cages is given. The results show that increasing the number of layers of steel cage and reducing the size of mesh can more effectively prevent the coupling of low-frequency and wide pulse electric field into the steel cage than increasing the diameter of steel bar and the side length of cubic steel cage. In addition, the time domain response inside the steel cage is relatively uniform, which achieves regional effective electric field electromagnetic protection.
