Abstract

Compared with single metal oxides, bimetallic oxides have synergistic modification effects, thus showing excellent light utilization, catalytic activity, sensitivity, response intensity, theoretical specific capacity, electrochemical cycling performance and so on. In this paper, bimetallic oxides with heterogeneous structures and homogeneous, such as NiFe2O4, NiCo2O4, CoMn2O4 and Zn2SnO4, are systematically introduced. Preparation methods will be described, such as hydrothermal, sol-gel and microwave-assisted synthesis, electrodeposition, electrospinning, templating approach, co-precipitation, chemical vapor deposition and high temperature pyrolysis and so on. The influence mechanisms of the preparation method on their structure and morphology will be summarized. Specifically, their applications in environmental protection and energy will be overviewed. Their nanostructures can be controlled by selecting appropriate preparation methods and their properties can be improved through processes. These strategies can be extended to other nanomaterials with more promising applications in energy storage and environmental protection.
