Today, social devices are interpreted as a part of cyber-physical human systems (CPHS) towards intelligent and pervasive surveillance, and social internet of things (S-IoT) in various aspects of our life. With the rapid development of many technologies related to cyber-physical systems (CPS), there is a crucial need to produce high-performance joint sensing-computing-communication platforms for use in different aspects of industrial/social/health informatics using computational intelligence and distributed, scalable, and adaptive computing as well as cybernetics, cyber-safety and cyber-control.
One main direction of cutting-edge developments is the challenge of integrating computing, communication, and sensing through cooperative and cross-layer strategies of cyber-physical human systems in social monitoring systems, aiming to improve the efficiency, integrity, and reliability of these systems in terms of physical/mental health of human, and, security, sustainability and safety of the societies, industries, and cities. Another interesting challenge in the field is the creation of new intelligent architecture for combining data communications, computing, and sensing in different areas of the S-IoT. These have a wide range of social applications considering ethical use of IoT/CPS technologies, cyber-crimes, and monitoring of human interactions through cyber tools (artificial intelligence (AI), web, social networks, etc.), and physical devices (drones and surveillance platforms, cameras and visual/biosensors, detectors, actuators, etc.) as key nodes of S-IoT to realize CPHS and Metaverse.
This special issue aims to highlight the latest advances in the efficient combination of sensors, computing and communications in CPHS, where a new architecture concerning cybernetic issues, human-machine interaction (and interfaces), and ethical concerns is introduced. Potential topics include, but are not limited to the following:
International Journal of Crowd Science (IJCS) is an international, peer-reviewed open-access academic journal, which publishes inter-disciplinary research on crowd intelligence. It is indexed by Scopus, DOAJ, etc. The authors are requested to submit their full research papers complying with the general scope of the journal. The submitted papers will undergo peer review process before they can be accepted. Notification of acceptance will be communicated as we progress with the review process.
