AB  - Protein is the fundamental basis for human physiological activities. The growing global population and rising living standards are driving a continuous increase in the demand for protein. However, it is a challenge for traditional industries to meet this demand. Consequently, the development of novel high-quality protein resources has become a research hotspot in the food and feed industries. As the largest and most diverse group of organisms on Earth, insects represent an excellent source of high-quality protein. This paper provides a comprehensive review of insect protein, including its resource advantages, extraction methods, current applications, limiting factors for development, and future prospect. The paper aims to provide comprehensive and in-depth insights and references for the further advancement of the insect protein industry.
