abstract = {ObjectiveTo explore the effects of individualized nursing care based on fall risk assessment in elderly patients in the emergency department. MethodsA total of 60 elderly patients who were under observation in the emergency observation area of our hospital in 2022 were selected as the control group and received routine nursing care. Another 60 elderly patients who were under observation in the same area in 2023 were selected as the experimental group. The Morse Fall Scale (MFS) was used to assess the risk of falling, and individualized nursing care was provided on the basis of fall risk. Both groups received continuous nursing care for one week. The two groups were compared in terms of patients’ knowledge of fall-related theories, the incidence of falls, nursing satisfaction, and patient satisfaction during observation. ResultsThe results Compared with the control group, the experimental group, which used the MFS for fall risk assessment and individualized nursing care, had a greater level of knowledge about fall-related theories (P &lt; 0.05) and a lower incidence of falls (P &lt; 0.05). There were statistically significant differences in nursing satisfaction and patient satisfaction during observation between the two groups (P &lt; 0.05). ConclusionIndividualized nursing care based on the MFS has significant effects on elderly patients in the emergency department, significantly reducing the risk of falls in elderly patients.}
