abstract = {As a health education tool, the patient and public versions of guidelines intend to improve the medical literacy of patients and the public, facilitate doctor-patient communication, and share decision-making in healthcare. At present, patient and public versions of guidelines are at an early stage in China, and there are problems such as immature methodologies and low awareness among stakeholders. Therefore, this paper proposes five initiatives to facilitate high-quality development of the patient and public versions of guidelines in China.}
